EDITION 5 : CHEERS, THIS ONE'S FOR YOU

I love a custom bar! When designing the decor for an event, it’s very important to bring focus to the bar area. We all know the bar is a gathering place and gets a huge amount of attention. When there isn’t a large budget for decor, sometimes creating one big fantastic component that brings drama and transforms a space is just the trick. In this instance, I suggest a custom designed bar element be the center of attention, especially when you install it in the center of your party!

Last fall, we created the same style bars for a wonderful family friend and colleague. The theme for the cocktail hour was inspired by two Italian families coming together. It was easier to collect wine crates, given the bride’s family owns the reception hall and restaurant. Coupled with the groom’s family owning a local produce company, I was also able to source as many lemons as I needed to create this design. I love when a plan comes together!

In this photo, we had a Bat Mitzvah client that challenged us by having a party revolve around inspiration! Different styles of inspired artwork became the lead elements for our design. We created the bar in the dining room using 576 aluminum spray cans, along with Andy Warhol inspired artwork, in the likeness of our guest of honor’s family members.

Inspiration continued as our primary design element behind the bar for cocktail hour. We brought together a collection of items that our client used to create her own artwork. Items included paint brushes, art pallets, colored pencils, and paint cans that we used to build something pretty cool!

Another cool bar design that hit it out of the park … hundreds of baseball bats and balls custom created as the backdrop of the bar area. I love the idea of volume when you are designing to create drama!
